Our Dana Random Acts of Kindness group consists of 5th and 6th graders who are recommended by their teachers to participate in the group. Our goal is to foster a positive environment by showing kindness and being of service to others, not to receive a reward, but just because it’s the right thing to do!
Some activities take place here at school, others out in our community. Here are some activities we have participated in:
*Visited Woods Humane Society and provided donations from their wish list.
*Generated a list of positive quotes which were used for the sixth grade candy grams.
*Created positive posters which were posted around campus.
*Game a minimum of 5 compliments to other students on the playground.
*Learned how to properly fold and raise the American and California flags.
*Learned how to shelve books in the library. We spent approximately 15 minutes each Friday shelving books for the librarian.
*Wrote kind notes to teachers and delivered them with apples.
*Helped set up for the Jog-a-thon.
*Volunteered to help with the Special Olympics.
*Helped clean up Dana after a wind storm wrecked the campus.
*Created and designed T-shirts for our RAK group.
*Taught the school the song “Put a Little Love in Your Heart” and did a flash mob.
*Put lucky pennies all over campus for kids to find.
*Chalk art positive messages on campus
*Taught the whole school what “Pay it Forward” means and encouraged them to do acts of kindness for others.
*Taught the whole school about gratitude and made gratitude trees.
*Stood on Tefft with positive message signs before school.
*Made Christmas ornaments to donate to families in need.
